Haruhi: Overrated?

With the new season of Suzumiya Haruhi coming out this fall(? I think it's this fall), the burning question I've seen around other forums is: Is Haruhi overrated? Have we all had enough of Haruhisms? Personally, I'm excited for the new season. I want to hear other opinions. :)

I'm actually one of the ones who was rather disappointed. After hearing all the hype, I expected something spectacular, and that's just not what I got when I watched it. Maybe it was just that the hype made it sound sooooooooo "that", but I just wasn't impressed. It was nice, and I enjoyed it. I just thought that there were other animes that were so much better in terms of animation, story, etc. Then again, take my words with a grain of salt; I don't tend to like many of the "hyped" animes, ie, Bleach, Death Note, Chrno Crusade, etc ...

I think I liked it so much because I had never heard of it before. xD I think I'm pretty much the same. Once Death Note got hella popular, I quit watching it. I started watching Bleach to see what everyone was so worked up about and I really didn't like it much at all. I stopped watching at the 20 something episode... I guess the hype just didn't ruin the anime for me. xD

I guess I would say that it is a bit overrated...I had trouble with the series when I first started watching it, despite the claims that it was a fun show to watch. Yes, I had to admit it was fun to watch in some parts, but it was quite boring to watch at some parts. Basically its a nice, cute anime, but its not really that "good", I think.

Haruhi is moe, lol. I suppose it's ultimately a niche title that got a lot of attention. I look forward to the new season. :)

I think so. My friend is so into this series, so when I actually got around to watching it, I was disappointed. Verrrry disappointed. But it does have quite a few fans. I went to an anime con a few weeks ago, and there were quite a few people dressed up as Haruhi, but none of them were really convincing. I like the art style though...

I like Haruhi...don't ask why, I just do (maybe because of the ending dance lol). I didn't know of the new season, these are good news.

At first i wanted to know what hype was about, got around to watching the first ep and i was like wtf?

but i gave it a chance and tried to find the the light novel instead...
and that's when i realized the greatness of Haruism....

watched the rest of the series, and to my surprise i was actually quite fond of the jumbled eps...
wonder what the 2nd series will be like...it's definitely a must watch IMO

yes actually i do think that it's overrated.. i watched the entire thing b4 it became really popular and i thought it was good, but not a masterpiece or anything..

Yup, I agree. I like it, but not to the extent that some people do. The first episode was really weird though. :)

Huh, I'm probably one of the few human beings on this planet who tends to hate that moe moe Haruhi O_O'
But anime of that genre were never my favourites ^^; so... for me, Haruhi is definately overrated.

I'll be honest, I haven't watched all of Haruhi. It was recommended to me by a friend, so I started to watch it, but after a few eps I couldn't stand it. So I thought it was totally over rated. But I guess I would have to watch the whole thing to be certain, but that's not going to happen anytime soon. I just found it silly and over the top, and I DO like some shows that are like that, but this did nothing for me.

It's totally overrated. It's good but not exceptionally awesome. But it is a show that gives people a lot of things to talk about, from the moe factor to the crazy episodes sequence to the dancing characters and all that weird stuff that happens in the show. It's fun and light to watch and has originality to boot, and I enjoyed it while it lasted. I'm looking forward to season 2 as well. :D

i actually didn't know that they were coming out with a new season of haruhi, but i really liked the first season and am anticipating the second one

i really didnt wach much of haruhi.... so idont think im going to watch the next season.... same goes for me... i dont care for the popular animes as much.... ill watch it.. if i habe time...or theirs nothign else on... or il waiting for somehing to dl... its more of a time killer or something i watch so i know what ppl are talking about... and i have yet to watch everything ...i skiped aroudn alot... cause the series are just too long.... or have too many filler arcs...

Haruhi's alright, in my opinion, but there's going to be new anime coming out as always. =O

are there no haruhi lovers here?i expect the fans of lucky star to love haruhi as well, seeing as there's so many parodies reference to haruhi in the series...
