Okay, I love reading manga and every now and then I run into something really sad. I mean something that can really get the tears falling. I am a little weird in that I love reading a good sad story as much as I love reading a comedy.

Well, on to the discussion now. I guess the manga that started me thinking about making a post is the one that I am currently keeping up with. It is called Subaru (or Dance Subaru). It is about a little girl that watches her brother slowly die in the hospital and dances for him. From their she starts really liking ballet. It is about half-way scanlated and I really love it. I can't wait for the next chapters to come out.

I guess I can a list some of my other favorite tear-jerkers. They are:

Socrates In Love
Wasurerarenai
Mucha Kucha Daisuke
Renri no Eda
Koizora
Absolute Boyfriend

I know that I have read others. These are just the ones that really stuck with me and make it hard to forget their names. If anyone has any they like and want to let everyone know about, I for one would love to hear what they are. So, post away. :sobs:

If you want a tearjerker, read Deep Love. That series made me cry. The first installment is Deep Love - Ayu no Monogatari. Just...just read it. D:

I like a good sob story from time-to-time myself. The first manga sob story I ever read was Haou Airen by SHINJO Mayu. It's definitely a bit of a tearjerker, especially the ending.

However, you should know that it is also classified as a smut story and may not be age appropriate.

I think this one was psuedo-tragedy as everyone had issue/anger/regrets....etc. The ending was "happy" but not that way I would have hoped for. It's called Paradise Kiss by Ai Yazawa and I just spent all night reading it...exhausted am I but glad i stuck with it. It'll make you think in the midst of the occasional chuckle. The main 2 characters really grabbed my heart and squeezed and I DID tear up but sucked it up before the tears could fall. I suggest this for those who can't quite take the ULTIMATE tragedy but need to wean themselves off the sugary-sweet KAWAII love manga and venture into the 'dark side'...I think this managa would be a good stepping stone of that road. Oh, one more! Hana no Namae by Kei Mizushima, is dark and heart/mind -wrenching. Makes you think and root for the couple while also hoping they don't destroy each other. It's...really deep, and delves into the mind of those seriously affected by loss/abandonment issues. Oh, one more--sort of like the first one because the ending vaguely hints at happilly ever after but the journey to GET to that point? PHEW!! It's called 'Bitter Virgin' by KUSUNOKI Kei; and it actually DID make me cry a little. Poor baby and poor baby's supporting character and what he went through to protect her, while loving he so much. Just...damn. Yeah, those were 3 for the record books for me.
