All right, so I just finished watching this anime, and I loved it! When it first came up on the torrents, I thought that the title seemed a little goofy, but heck! After seeing it up there a few times, I looked it up on AniDB. Here's what it said:
"The full moon shines in the sky. In the light, a red shadow is running like the wind. Holding a Japanese sword in his hand, he jumps from building to building. He runs in order to save his brother, in order to realize his dreams, and… When he finally finds his enemy, he will grin with his shining fangs because he knows now that he can beat any enemy.
The Special Area - it is the only place where the vampire, the ones who are supposed to destroy, and human beings can live together. In this place, where two vampires, Mochizuki Kojiro and his brother Kotaro, and a human being, Katsuragi Mimiko, meet, a new fate is waiting for them.
A story of life and death colored by black and red, and the vampires that control them begins. You’ll be the witness to the legend of a bloody race that lives in the shadow."
scr, AniDB (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=4416)
Okay, that was a little ... vague, I thought, so I looked it up on ANN, but they didn't have a description. They do now.
"Ten years after the Holy War in Hong Kong, Mochitsuki Jurou, aka the Silver Blade, and the lone hero who fought and defeated the Kowloon Children despite the loss of his lover, returns to Japan with his young brother, Mochitsuki Kotaro. The two quickly discover that the Kowloon Children who survived the Holy War are seeking to infiltrate the “Special Zone”—a thriving city protected by an invisible barrier that will not allow Kowloon Children entrance—unless they’re invited. Red Bloods refer to the humans; Black Bloods are the vampires, and the Mochitsuki Brothers are Old Blood—the last descendants of an elite clan of vampires. When Kotaro is abducted by one of the Kowloon Children, Jurou has no choice but to fight once more."

Anyway, for a 12 episode anime, this one was really good! An interesting story that let me wishing there were more to the tale, and I wondered if anyone else was watching or had seen it, too???

I just finished watching Black Blood Brothers, I indulged because I have been studying day and night for the past two weeks boo. Anyways, I finally have taken a few hours off and watched the last episode, got sad because there was not more to the story, I wish the anime was longer! I love Jiro and Kotaro, and I also found myself cheering when Mimiko jumped into the river :)

I think they left it rather open ended, I mean, they didn't answer ALL the questions ...
ie
We still know nothing of the Kowloon King, etc ...
So here's to hoping, right???

i totally agreed with cireus that lots of question is left unanswered... n i m very interested in the following:
1. how strong is kotarou when he get his full power?
2. how did jirou defeat e kowloon king and how strong is e kowloon king?

Does anyone know if they are planning on making a sequel to this anime? or if it's based of a manga? By the way, I loved Black Blood Brothers too. :o)

Alot of times 12 episode series get a second season if they get good ratings.

I'm hoping there's another season, as well. I mean, they did well in tying up the small things, but they really opened a lot of questions in the final couple episodes--questions that I would love to see an answer to, eventually ... :)

I just watched this series. Really enjoyed it, but... You just can't introduce two major new plot concepts in the second-to-last chapter of a story unless you plan on pursuing the storyline further. Unkind! I swear, the people who make these shows must have a sadistic streak buried somewhere in them.
Stop torturing us...!

I watched it a few weeks ago, and I have to say it left me hanging, so to speak. I think there were a lot of unanswered questions, which makes me hope that there will be a second season. I was somehow confused at some parts, since the explaining was done later in the series. Its a good anime, though, and is to be watched.

I love the series...but as most good series go :D...they end them at a crucial moment...most likely because they use the shows as incentive...after seing the ending, you have no other choice than to buy the manga :p

Heh ... in this case there is no manga. Black Blood Brothers is based on a novel, or a set of novels, I don't remember which. In any case, I wish there WAS a manga... :sigh:

I finished this anime a long time ago...
i didn't understand is Jiru going to die and reborn??
It was so short, i have so many questons!!!
Cireus
06-16-2007, 02:09 PM
No, from what I gathered ...
Jirou is a vampire, and so long as his creator was alive in her natural form, he was eternal. Since she was killed, he is now responsible for being the "container" for her blood until such time that Kotarou is mature enough to take the blood back, and that would then kill Jirou
At least, that was my interpretation of what they were saying. Rather sucky, IMO. lol!

06-16-2007, 02:23 PM
Ooooo.... Now i get it!!! Wow so complicated!!! i think that is why they decided not to end it, if so then Juro going to die... :wtf: that would be horrible!!!!! suddenly i prefer it to end that way.

Yes, it is very good, and I highly recommend it. Please bear in mind, though, that according to the forum rules, your post needs to contribute to the discussion. Simply saying, "Well, I haven't seen this anime, so I can't give my opinion" doesn't really add to the discussion :) If you've read the entire thread, you'd see that many forumers do enjoy Black Blood Brothers very much. Give it a try! I think you'd like it, too!

Hey guys ^_^ I finished this anime and thought it was pretty good for a short series~ Like some of other members, I also feel that the ending was kinda "opened" and a bit unfinished T.T Other than that, I enjoyed it!! I really like vampire-related anime and mangas.. I swear, I'm not morbid nor dark!!

This is the forum for anime discussion, not for downloads or requests, but I will go ahead and answer your question. In the future, please ask in the appropriate forum (the Anime Requests forum for anime). Look in the Anime Hosted Links forum and look for the Anime Host Link Index thread. It's stickied to the top of that forum.

Like many others above i too really enjoyed this series, another spin on the 'Vampire' theme. I would like to see a second series cos i got involved with the development of the characters, shame to let the story die there.
Maybe we should all chip in to the fund of producing the anime, if only !!!

I agree. I first saw this anime at a friend's place. She basically shoved me into a chair and told me to 'shut up and watch', and I'm sooo glad she did.
The relationship between Jirou and Kotarou is just so incredible. I know Jirou beats his little brother up, but isn't that what most siblings do anyway? And the only reason why Jirou does is because he knows his little brother can take it, but you can see in his smiles that he loves Kotarou, just like he loves Mimiko.
I have to say, I never laughed so hard during an anime as I did when he suceeded in running from the cops, only to land in a pond. Or when Mimiko decided a bucket of water would be the best wake up call for Jirou. I practically fell off my chair I was bouncing so much when I found this site and the links to download the anime. It's my favourite anime, and when I get a boy...I'm totally dressing him up as Jirou for the next supanova convention! (Which means I'll just have to go as Mimiko...for obvious, blood-suckingly good reasons! ;P)

WARNING: WALL OF TEXT INCLUDING **SPOILERS**
I finished watching this anime maybe 3 or 4 days ago or so. I myself am a fan of vampire anime's, or atleast ones done in good taste. This I thought was one of them, but i'm sure with the way it ended and as seeing it's only 1 season long, i'm sure they'll continue upon this. I'll list my reasons below, feel free to discuss them.
1. Cassa didn't die.
2. Yafuri Chao Direct descendant of the Kowloon king, took what appeared to be a fatal wound but didn't show him as being dead, only in an excruciating amount of pain when he landed on the boat, so he may still be alive.
but Zaza, he's dead, lol. (i think)
3. The Kowloon King's ashes are buried in the 11'th District and we know Cassa is still alive with intent to resurrect the king. for what purposes i can only imagine. which is the reason why Shogo and the rest want Jirou to stay in special district, in case the time comes again when he's needed to defeat him.
4. I doubt they would end the series entirely with out showing you the main characters "true form", or atleast i beleive they've hidden it for the time being. Think about it.
"Cain the Blue wolf", an old blood if you will, reveals his true form in the one fight against Yafuri Chao, and when he's done stomping his face into the ground he says
"It's over. Remember it kid. If that man is willing to sacrifice his body to draw his sword, you aside, not even Cassa-Sama can beat him."
Also Sei The Dragon King of the East, shows his truly powerful form. Now with what you've seen from just those two Old bloods alone, they appear much more powerful then Jirou is in his current state, even when Cain had a short encounter with him, he made jirou look weak. Now with Cain making him look so weak in that one short encounter why would he still try to instill fear about him into Yafuri. And with 2 old bloods alone, why would they need Jirou to defeat the Kowloon King if he's resurrected? are they not powerful enough? is Jirou hiding some sort of power?
theres other things i could comment upon but i think this wall of text is enough. Enjoy wondering and looking forward to Season 2. :sly:

Oooooh, good points. I have to agree that given the way it ended, I doubt they've finished it completely, but I think they're more, waiting to see what the general consenus on the anime is before continuing with a second series.
I would dearly love to see far more of this anime...and especialy Jirou (god that vampire's hot), but also find out more about Kotarou and Alice. Anyone who's seen the series should know about the connection between Alice and Kotarou, and I'd really love to see them bring that conection into the spotlight properly, instead of dancing around it and teasing us with the knowledge.
I'd also like to see what decision Jirou would make if faced with Alice or Mimiko. Will he continue to hold on to his past, or cast those spider webs aside and grab a hold of the present?
In short, I think there's some serious un-finished business in this series.

I watched this a long time ago and I really liked it...It's probably the best vampire anime I've seen.(I should watch it again...)
Jirou is the best character in my opinion and his seiyuu is one of my favorites: Takahiro Sakurai (D. Gray-man - Kanda Yuu, Bleach - Kira Izuru, FFVII - Cloud Strife, etc.)
About the novels: the series is still ongoing and there's already 7 books,
and there is other, S-series, which contains few short stories in each novel. It has 3 books.
There is two drama CDs and A background book, too.

I'm getting those full quality episodes off the Sendspace links Cireus put up, thanks for those!
I watched all 12 at Anime6 at first, so it was kinda low quality and lame. XD

hi!
I totally agree with all of, but i have a question about mimiko.
i noticed that she seemes to be more than just a normal human. she has some kind of relation with jirou. i mean, in one of the episodes (i think Nr 5, when she throws water on jirou) she had a dream about cassa! how could she dream about cassa if she does not know her?!
and in the 11 episode before jirou fals into the river she sais something about the ocean, like alice eve!
and when shogo talks with jirou in the end there also something weird about how he talks about her. And zelman askes shogo if it is a coincidence that she has nothing else to do than "working" with jirou and kotaro.
i think there is something about mimiko and her heritage. i mean she is an orphan, so we dont know who her parent are and maybe they are somehow related with jirou or alice?!
and did you see the coffin when mimiko and kotaro look out of the window at the first day of their arrival in thje special zone?! what do you think, is it the coffin of the kowloon king or another black blood?!
ok like always i have talked too much^^ and sorry for my terrible english, i'm not a native speaker.

I totally agree about the point behind the spoiler. I thought the same thing. There were just too many things left unfinished in this anime. But it is still worth watching. It's very very good.
I really hope there will be a second season for this, and once the novels are released in english (hopefully they will be) I will read them to fill in details. So many things puzzled me in this series. Such as:
-What was so important about the Sage's blood? (Besides it being an old bloodline).
-What exactly is a source blood?
-What is Sei and his sister (they were so much more powerful than everyone else)?
But overall if you haven't watched it, go watch it now.

I really like this anime as well especially because the characters weer so much fun to watch.
I saw this a long time ago and I never finished the series because at the time it wasn't complete and I had moved on to manga but I think Jirou's great. I was unfulfilled in the romance department (I'm not sure if that changes after) just because the girl (whom I totally forget the name) was one of the few I could actually stand and I liked her. Plus, that scene when Jirou sucks the blood from the girl was...*___________*
I think I'd react the same way.@___@
But sorry for not being able to say more about it. I'll have to rewatch it properly once more. I remember really loving it though.

*Warning!!!! SPOILERS!!!!*
What so special about Jiro's Bloodline?
It's explain in the series that their bloodline trancends death. Remember when Cassa killed Alice, but reincarnated as Kotarou. And it is explained that Only Alice had that bloodline and when Jirou's on that verge of death she gives her blood to Jirou only.

This is my personal favourite anime of all time. There are unfortunately alot of questions unanswered, but not so many that it was an entirely unfulfilling ending. Plus the characterisation was so well done, there are very few times I've cared about characters as much as with these ones.
Fatalis brought up a few things I'd like my say on:
(i think)
I thought Casa did die. Even though you never see her die (and Jirou talks to her as if she would have survived) if you look jirou's final blow did stab her through the heart whereas she only got his right side (plus cain and the dragon king only remark about the walkerman (zaza) getting away. This also leads to my believing that Jirou really did kill Yafuri, aside from him ripping yafuri in half).
Cain was called 'Cain the blue wolf' and Riu-dono is 'the dragon king'. I understand those tranformations were just a part of their powers or heritage and disagree with the idea that all old bloods have some sort of ultimate form. If so where were Casa's or Zelman's? I dont think Jirou is any more powerful then we saw him nor do I think Cain made him look weak. On the skyscraper he caught Jirou off guard and if you were impressed by Cain as a lycanthrope stomping on Yafuri, just think of how quickly Jirou sliced yafuri in half.
Also, Cain's quote to Yafuri:
"It's over. Remember it kid. If that man is willing to sacrifice his body to draw his sword, you aside, not even Cassa-Sama can beat him."
Doesn't necessarily have to apply to Jirou and him having a similar transformation to Cain. It may simply be a metaphor or maybe Cain was talking about himself.

I too watched the anime series some time ago and absolutely love it!!!!
The three main characters and the mystery behind the story made me stay many nights awake:pickle:
I too think that Mimikos past should be clarified a bit more..its still very confusing, since she plays a big part in this great plot. But of course this is only possible if there is another season...:thwap:
Regarding the second season/contination of this anime/novel:
I searched the whole internet and it seems that there will be no other season...The ending of the novel was i think in 2006-07? We have 2009 and all the DVDs are out...Since Im a fanatic of this novel/anime I would be very happy if there is someone out there who knows something about the momentary progress of the BBB... Maybe the DVD ratings/selling... I dunno..Im really desperate to get to know more of the continuation of this Vampire novel!! Pleazzzeeee:cries:
