View Full Version : Sunako's nosebleed
I suggest you a discussion about the nosebleed of Sunako... XD
First, I apologize if I double-post : looking for the pics where she has one, I got so many, that it was pretty difficult to make a choice... I hope it won't be considered as spamming...
But it would be a pity, to not add pics... It's a topic really visual, nee?
Second, it's difficult to understand a noseblood by only one pic... The context is needed...
So, because of these reasons, I made some collages... It's my interpretation at the present, so... pretty pretty questionable, and I wish you'll question it ! ! !
NB: Sorry for the quality... Me total amateur...
So, let's start this...
Nosebleed observation !
Part one : Sunako, an extraordinary or "normal" heroine ?
So many nosebleed...Since c01 until c85, I've counted near 40 ! ! !
Isn't Sunako phenomenal ? How many litres of blood has she lost for our delight ? ?
She appears like an hypersensitive girl... At the beginning, just looking the guys makes her have a nosebleed...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/SNTE.jpg
...and most of all Kyouhei...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/SvsK.jpg
But is she really different from the others girls ? Could really a "normal" girl bear to live with those guys ? ? ?
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/EGFFK.jpg
In other hand, the nosebleed have decreased... The last four were :
- the first massive one in the c68, the ballroom
- when she lives with Kyouhei in the c70
- the second massive one in the c74...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/MN.jpg
- the last one was in the c80...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/80-37.jpg
And since this chapter, no more... expecting for an upcoming chapter... *suspens*
So, I ask you my first questions :
- what do you think about this evolution ?
- and what do you think about the meaning and the symbolysm of nosebleed ?
Nosebleed observation !
Part two : Sunako, why all those nosebleed ?
It's really interesting to look for why our dear and dark Sunako has nosebleed...
At the beginning, it was just because of seeing Kyouhei...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/SNBS.jpg
But the most of times, it's because Kyouhei is pretty close and touches her in every way(I don't know if you notice, but for a guy who is afraid of harassment, he's really "tactile"... I lost the count, but it's dozens ! ! !)
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/SNBKTH.jpg
The "bare" physical appearance of Kyouhei is also a great source... as well if it's in reality or just in imagination...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/SNBKN.jpg
Whaaa ? Sunako is really a girl, nee ?
And some special moments confirm me in this thought...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/SNBOKK.jpg
Sometimes, it seems that nosebleed are provoked by some "consciousness" (don't know how to express it) that she has of Kyouhei...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/SNBCOK.jpg
Nosebleed observation !
Part three : has Sunako always nosebleed ?
Nosebleed is just an alternative... For each situation I evoked, Sunako also faints a lot ! ! ! !
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/SAF.jpg
Plus, nosebleed have decreased...
But aren't situations where you expected her to have one ? ? And she hasn't...
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/SDAN.jpg
So, I stop here... (I'm a bit nauseous...)
And please, give me your thoughts ! :D

Umm.. Do I need to post pics to be able to join the discussion? :D
This is a good observation. I mean, we always see Sunako getting massive nosebleeds just by looking at the 4 guys, yet it seems it (the nosebleeds) are decreasing in number.
I think that maybe Sunako is slowly becoming "immune" to these guys' faces and presence, especially when she always has to face them at home and in school.
And maybe Kyouhei, subconsciously sensing her impending immunity, is reacting in his own way by touching/ manhandling Sunako in order to get a reaction from her (because we know he likes her reactions).
These are just my thoughts. May I hear from others as well? :D

(No, you don't need to, lol!)
I dunno ... I think that Kyouhei tends to manhandle her because he ENJOYS her response, not necessarily just to get a reaction. Talk about weird. The poor boy's going to end up in some macabre S&M scenarios later in life, I think ... It seems to me that he tends to LIKE it when she fights him.
Bearing in mind, too, that they're, like, 15? My son is 15, and he'd rather fight with a girl than cuddle with her, any day. (Of course, I don't think this is going to last long, either, sadly)
Though back on topic, sure. It makes sense that she'd gain a bit of immunity, all things considered. I mean, I have things in my home that I thought were really gorgeous when I bought them but the longer I have them, the less prone I am to stand around and admire them or remark upon how gorgeous the things are on a regular basis. However, from time to time, I'll look at something and think, "Wow, that is soooooooo pretty ..." The only difference is that I don't usually end up gushing blood when I think that ... LOLOL

Ah...the fan fics with those scenarios!:whip:
With the whole nosebleed thing, it's a Japanese old wives tale associated with 'stimulation' other places related to high blood pressure. Since it's usually associated with men, it also has other connotations with the spurts of blood. (I actually saw something on live action TV last night when this happened..a lady walked into the wrong bath and the guy inside had a nosebleed)
I guess that means that Sunako has the capability to be a real tigress! :o
As far as the nosebleeds go, they are becoming rarer and rarer. Time wise, she hasn't had one in six months or so. From what I've seen on my end, that is. There's a good gusher we'll see in a month or so in the scans then...there hasn't been one since. They seem to tolerate each other a bit better too.
Whaaa... Pretty interesting ! ! ! :D
About immunity,I think that maybe Sunako is slowly becoming "immune" to these guys' faces and presence, especially when she always has to face them at home and in school. It makes sense that she'd gain a bit of immunity, all things considered.* I mean, I have things in my home that I thought were really gorgeous when I bought them but the longer I have them, the less prone I am to stand around and admire them or remark upon how gorgeous the things are on a regular basis.Yes, it seems that Sunako gained immunity towards the guys after the chapter 03 when Kyouhei was sick... After spending all day doing the nurse for him, she's totally impassive in front of the three others dazzling guys...But I think it's not the only reason...The others guys also pay more attention to the fears of Sunako... They never touch her and aren't in some "romantic" situation with her... And what has convinced me are two chapters with Ranmaru : - the first in the c39 When a typhoon wreaks everything in its path, when Kyouhei has left the mansion and Sunako wonders if she can bear to live with a radiant creature : to test, she touches Ranmaru and nearly faints...- the second in the c41 The princess of the sleepy forest, Ranmaru wonders about the Princess he just met, and is thinking if he's able to kiss a girl who is not "his type". Sunako has a nosebleed...http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/Ranmaru.jpgSo, now, she only has nosebleed when it's Kyouhei...As far as the nosebleeds go, they are becoming rarer and rarer.* Time wise, she hasn't had one in six months or so.* From what I've seen on my end, that is.* There's a good gusher we'll see in a month or so in the scans then...there hasn't been one since.* They seem to tolerate each other a bit better too.First, it was because Kyouhei is irresistible... No one, no matters how old she/he is, can resist to him... Even a "freezing" girl* can have a nosebleed ! !http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/Kyouhei-1.jpgAnd yes, she seems to tolerate better his presence (if he is not half-naked...). So, the nosebleed are rarer...Secondly, there are all those "romantic" situations that trouble Sunako... She can have a nosebleed just because Kyouhei is kind towards her (yes, he can ! ! !), just by his words as in the c05 or in the c36 :http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/Words.jpgSo, here it's not because of the appearance of Kyouhei that she has a nosebleed, but because she's moved...
About manhandling,And maybe Kyouhei, subconsciously sensing her impending immunity, is reacting in his own way by touching/ manhandling Sunako in order to get a reaction from her (because we know he likes her reactions).I dunno ... I think that Kyouhei tends to manhandle her because he ENJOYS her response, not necessarily just to get a reaction.* [...] My son is 15, and he'd rather fight with a girl than cuddle with her, any day.* (Of course, I don't think this is going to last long, either, sadly)I think that at the beginning, Kyouhei was really spontaneous... And yes, he enjoyed the reactions of Sunako, and has seen her as a "game buddy"... And he liked fighting with her... Plus, if he had to "save his hide" or to preserve some self-interest, then, he had no consideration to the girl of Sunako, and could provoke a nosebleed...http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj309/hmr1_bucket/Kyouheiprovokes.jpgBut little by little, he became aware of the trouble he causes to her, and maybe it's only in my head (as often...), but I find that he's less spontaneous... Their last confrontation in the c82 (they play badmington) was provoked by Sunako...
About the nosebleed's connotationsWith the whole nosebleed thing, it's a Japanese old wives tale associated with 'stimulation' other places related to high blood pressure.* Since it's usually associated with men, it also has other connotations with the spurts of blood. (I actually saw something on live action TV last night when this happened..a lady walked into the wrong bath and the guy inside had a nosebleed)I guess that means that Sunako has the capability to be a real tigress! Sure, she has a strong character ! ! !The nosebleed* are the expression of intense emotions that she can't refrain... I like the symbolism : it's something internal that she tries to hide (the most she can, she avoids the radiant beings and most of all Kyouhei! !) which comes out all of sudden, against her wishes...Even she said she has given up to be woman, she is betrayed by her body... She is not indifferent to the guys...
* And I wonder if we can connect that with her obsession for anatomical dolls : they are her friends who will never hurt her, but in other hand, she finds them perfect (see c66, Sunako's Ideal Body Building, when she wants to become one). I work out that she is looking for self-control...

well this will definitely be my first reply @.@
and i have to say
love this manga its awesome
wait AWESOME
uummmm :uhh:
nosebleeds i guess its a way to show how they are to each other and how others see them like in the beginning sunako was always getting them with all four guys but then you see later on that its starting to just be of kyouhei at least most of them
its hard to explain but it makes sense in my brain
Ok
for sunako its like a mechanism a protection barrier and kyouhei seems to not think of it much there is no real thought until it gets to book 3 where you start to see sunako getting less of them and it was all because of kyouhei getting sick to sad since you can see that if she were different then they would be ok they could actually be a item
as fewer nosebleeds come kyouhei starts to manhandle her to try to get a reaction from her but she just doesn’t get as many as long as there is no obvious cause like kyouhei with out a shirt or he is trying to kiss her or seems to be going to.
to me it seems like this
start
girl = antisocial
boy = rebellious
both equal no life
girl towards boy = rejection
middle
girl = immune
boy = rough (manhangling)
towards the end
girl towards boy = girl is changing and guy doesn’t want her 2
even if kyouhei doesn’t admit it yet he has always like her the way she is or was
and prefers not to change at all her way of being I mean she cooks, cleans, saves money, great worker, and lets admit it not prissy or obnoxious or any of the things most girls would be by having a wealthy aunt.
Shes cool the way she is and I guess kyouhei has already noticed it but doesn’t seem to fully understand it and that is where the nosebleeds come in (at least to me) the less she has them the more he knows that she is changing and that is why he is always treating her like a guy !!!!!! he doesn’t want her to change
Even if they are 15 years old (which is hard to believe, they are all 2 cute) they seem (sunako and kyouhei) to know what they want and in many different ways it’s the same thing
So the end how is it going to be
Girl =
Boy =
Boy and girl =
Well like I said it sounds so much better in my head when I try to explain it ^_^
And this is a long post lol+

I think from the way this story is progressing, we can probably expect less and less of the nosebleed on Kyohei, a sign of their relationship is somewhat progressing. Ranmaru already said that Sunako has already been immuted to the rest of the three which I think it's because she is already friend with them. With Kyohei, that's a total different relationship, a more difficult one to admit and understand, that's partly why the nosebleed hasn't stop.
I think the nosebleed also stands for Sunako's acceptance to Kyohei. She kept saying that she can't stand dazzling creatures but when it's a critical/serious moment (e.g. the vampire situation in chp.92), she wouldn't think how dazzling Kyohei is, rather she was concerned about his safely. (thought she probably doesn't realize it herself.)

yeah, i also notice that... it's kinda weird-cute way...
hhmmm... about the nosebleeds... i think it's a representation that even she (a girl that lives in the darkness) is still oblivious to the bishies presence... there is still a fan girl inside her... :D
about the manhandling... it also bugs me... for kyohei to enjoy the reactions of sunako... i think he could understand her better because his a victim himself..
but...
if sunako wants something out of kyohei that badly... she doesn't nosebleed at all... if she's lucky... but if she did nosebleed... it would react a little later when provoked...
plus...
she faints often than nosebleed now...
(just read the latest chapters of the manga... i'm having a hard time in posting pictures...)

This explains much...and then makes me go "Hmmmm..."--again.
Firstly, that there's a real "myth", as it were, about nosebleeding and it's likely sources of origin in those situations (which I thought was so much anime/manga cliche...).
Secondly, a tigress? Hmmm, if anyone, I can see that in our dear Su-chan! She's like the quintessential tomboy/introvert/psuedo Goth-loner ( I can relate much more than I can freely express here...) with subconsicous moments of reality as shown by her nosebleeds/fainting spells/tongue tied-ness/retreat to darkness. What's familiar, ne?
