It's been suggested in the thread and in other places, as well, so this month's pick for Anime of the Month is ....

Black Blood Brothers

Genre(s): Comedy, Fantasy, Supernatural
Number of Episodes: 12
Opening Theme: Ashita no Kioku by Naozumi Takahashi
Ending Theme: Shinkirou by LOVEHOLIC
Summary: Ten years ago in Hong Kong, a vampire named Jirou Mochitsuki fought and defeated a new breed of vampires known as the Kowloon Children in The Holy War – a bloody war that cost him his beloved. The 'Silver Blade', as he was known, was a hero ...

Ten years later, Jirou returns to Japan with his young brother, Kotaro. The boat they've stowed away on is attacked, and in the crossfire between the Company and a group of ragtag vampires, Kotaro gets tossed into the ocean. Jirou saves him and washes up on the shores of Japan only to be found by Mimiko Katsuragi, a young woman who works for the Company as a Compromiser - a go-between who works with vampires (Black Bloods) and humans (Red Bloods).

With different factions vying for Jirou – many of whom want nothing more than to kill the Silver Blade – what will become of the Black Blood Brothers?

I remember, I started downloading this series because the name caught my attention. At that time, I wasn't sure what it was, exactly (none of the databases had descriptions). I'll admit that my first thought upon seeing Jirou's clothing was ... Alucard rip-off ...

That aside, I thoroughly enjoyed this anime--so much so that I created a fansite for it--and I definitely think that it's one of the better short series. It does well to tie up loose ends while still leaving ample room for a sequel (we can always hope!), so I hope that everyone else enjoys the series as much as I did!!!

I've watched it a while back, and I'd have to agree with the comments above. It is good, and it also makes you hope for a sequel. Unfortunately, It was also a bit confusing for me, since there were some flashbacks you really couldn't understand until you finish the entire anime series.

I LOVE YOUR AVI rae214!! He was my favorite character. I wish it would have been longer, but I enjoyed it a lot. Now, if I can get my hands on the manga ^^
